Mission 2001

Guanaja, The Island Challenge

After leaving Honduras on January 22, 2001 we were able to look back upon the work that we had set out to accomplish. Little notice was paid to our aching muscles as our hearts were filled with joy and gladness.
In an intense 2-week period we were able to:

1. Medically evaluate over 3,000 people and distribute over $250,000 worth of drugs.
2. Immunize 447 children and adults.
3. Fitted 700 people with glasses.
4. Took care of the dental needs of several hundred people.
5. Completely built one duplex home and finished another one.
6. 500 fruit trees were planted.
7. An English tutoring class was started.
8. Put in 9 sidewalks
9. 10 basketballs and 10 soccer balls were donated and left.
10. Build a playground, complete with swings and monkey bars.
11. Held evangelistic meetings for 500
12. Held vacation Bible school and a puppet ministry for 200 children.
13. Taught 190 people basic rules for healthful living.
14. Distributed over 200 Bibles
15. A church was formed with over 100 people attending regularly.

40 people have been baptized and 2 months after we left, the Carolina conference came and built a brand new church at the site our meetings were held on. Much was accomplished here that we can tally on paper, but the lives that have been touched and changed forever continue to grow so immensely that the final count won’t be known until we get to Heaven. God is good and His mercy continues on!!
